Hand-Painted Blue and White Canton Fishbowl, With Stand

Decorated with traditional blue and white flower motif, the design of this planter was brought to China by the British in the early 18th century. Large bowls like these were traditionally used by noble families of ancient China to protect their pond gold fish from the freezing cold of winter. Used today as a cachepot, it gives plants a highly decorative place to put down roots. Comes with matching wooden stand. Top opening diameter is approximately 19" dia.
